An exclusive collection in collaboration with Tove Jansson’s Moomin
An exclusive collection in collaboration with Moomin brings the imaginative universe of Tove Jansson’s illustrations into dialogue with the house’s heritage of leathercraft. The collection explores Moomin characters and landscapes through vibrant colour, expressive leatherwork, and artisanal detail.
First introduced in 1945, Moomin characters celebrate the pleasures of companionship and the freedom to be oneself. Jansson’s exploration of individuality finds a natural parallel in Bottega Veneta’s craft philosophy, sharing an appreciation for the unique qualities that give people and their creations a character of their own.
Through novels, picture books and comic strips, Jansson developed a distinctive visual language, exploring the relationships between her protagonists and the landscapes they inhabit. Bottega Veneta’s leathercraft brings a new dimension to this world, translating the warmth and whimsy of the original comic strips into tactile form.
Across leather charms, everyday essentials and signature bag silhouettes such as Andiamo and Campana, the collection interprets the Moomin world through a playful palette and handcrafted details. Moomin-inspired motifs find new expression in Intrecciato, with hues drawn directly from Jansson’s illustrated scenes.
Presented exclusively at the Isetan Shinjuku pop-up on 11 November, the collection will arrive at Bottega Veneta’s Ginza, Omotesando and Umeda Hankyu stores, and online on 18 November.
