THE VILLA

The atelier has always reflected the craftsmanship, creativity and identity of Bottega Veneta, with its roots strongly planted in the Veneto region and its know-how tied to local expertise that has been passed down from generation to generation. Marking a new milestone for the company in its entirety, in September 2013 Bottega Veneta inaugurated its new atelier in Montebello Vicentino, designed in view of the well-being of the employees and with respect to the latest standards of sustainability.  Through this project and the scrupulous attention to the Villa’s impact on the surrounding environment and to the people, Bottega Veneta has once again clearly affirmed the relationship between the company and its local origin, both people and place.

The new site, not far from the Montecchio Maggiore castles, is a 55,000 sq m park with historic 18th century villa (Villa Schroeder-Da Porto) protected by Italy’s Environmental Heritage authority. Conservative restoration of the villa maintained its local stone façade, portals, columns, statues and fountains, while a new addition was built. More than 75% of original material was reused in the renovation, new material was sourced from nearby, and only Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood was used, while attention was paid to detailed waste separation. To allow the grounds to flourish as they had in the past, respect was paid to recover existing vegetation using certified materials and plants. Green spaces are just one of the benefits employees can enjoy. To ensure a pleasant working environment, a noise-barrier system has been introduced along with a special bike-parking zone to encourage people to cycle to work. The key aspects of the project are in fact eco-friendly, established to limit use of water, artificial light and improve overall energy footprint. In this regard, the most significant features include 1,200 square meter solar panels installed on the villa’s roof, a rainwater-recycling system, and ground-source heating and air-conditioning systems which limit CO2 emissions.
