The art of collaboration

Spring-Summer 2010 – Nan Goldin

Location: Whaler’s cottage in Staten Island, New York City An exploration of individuality, the Spring/Summer 2010 collection was serene and simple, with a spare palette enlivened by strokes of vivid color. The sensibility of the woman was paramount here, which is why Tomas Maier sought out the talents of Nan Goldin. Goldin has been a unique force in photography and film for close to 40 years. “Nan’s work is intensely personal, with an unusual focus on the individual,” says Maier. “This collection was a collaboration with the woman who wears the clothes, and I knew Nan would bring both formal beauty and psychological depth to the images.”
