The art of collaboration

Spring-Summer 2008 – Sam Taylor-Wood

Location: Artist’s studio, London In her photography and video work, Sam Taylor-Wood explores questions of psychology and physicality, often focusing on isolated moments of intense emotion. She was, therefore, an apt choice to photograph a collection that explored order and disorder, control and chaos. The palette is pale, the silhouette long, ample, and fluid, with volume created by pleating, ruching, and other hand-worked details. Taylor-Wood’s imagery captures the restraint and intimacy of the collection’s subtle, intensely but imperceptibly worked clothing and accessories. Says Tomas Maier, “Sam brought a very compelling human dimension to the campaign, a dimension that’s central to everything Bottega Veneta designs.”
