“In 2008, Bottega Veneta introduced the META chair, designed by Creative Director Tomas Maier and made in association with Poltrona Frau, an international leader in high-end furnishings. Constructed of seasoned beech and poplar wood and upholstered in exclusive Pelle Frau leather, the chair was designed for reading, with a high back, accommodating arm rests and a seat cushion that is soft and supple.
This year, with the success of the META, the collaboration between Bottega Veneta and Poltrona Frau was expanded. Products launched include the META Canapé, a two-seater couch; the META Pouf; and the META Brisée, a contemporary interpretation of the 18th-century duchesse brisée. Also, at long last, there are META dining chairs.
Drawn from organic lines and graceful curves and using the soft, full-grain leather, the products require a tremendous amount of technical expertise to manufacture as there is no visible sign of any stitching or screws. Designed for reading, lounging and socializing – in short, living – these products represent a joint effort between two companies whose philosophies complement each other with astonishing affinity and have resulted in products of unsurpassed quality and precision.”
